Hear the Music

Every year our music director selects songs based on a theme. And each year our theme is a little different. Last year we played “Music Thru The Decades”, a range of musical styles from Dixieland to Rock. In prior years we’ve had movie themes, Broadway shows and a little classical thrown in for fun. Well this year the theme is a little different.

For our 5 Year Anniversary, our musical director decided that our musicians, the people who make the Pops what it is today, would get to do the choosing. So in January a request went out to all the musicians in the group to vote for their favorite pieces played in the past 5 years. What we have come up with is a great selection of fun and interesting pieces. With a list of approximately 35 charts, this years selections range from Marches to Irish Jigs, with some Elvis and Beach Boys thown to make it interesting.

Oh, and don’t forget about the 80’s or a little bit of the big band sound! Of course our standard patriotic music is always available for those special occasions. We truly hope you will enjoy what we have selected for this year and just to “whet your appetite” here are a few samples for you to listen to.
